1. Material and color

The first two things you need to ask yourself when buying curtains is; What mood do you want them to create, and which room should they be in? In a bedroom you may want a thicker curtain and in the living room one that is more sheer. Do you want a luxurious linen curtain or one in cotton?
Patterned or monochrome? If you have solid-colored walls, you can advantageously choose a patterned curtain. If you have a patterned wallpaper or a lot of patterns in the interior, it is better to choose a solid-colored one.

2. Select the correct width

Most curtains are adapted to a normal window width, but if you have a wider window section, you also need wider curtains. Look for curtains that are twice as wide, if you can’t find that, buy two lengths and hang next to each other. The most important thing is that you get a full look.

3. Select the correct length

It is also important to keep in mind that the curtain has the right length, you do not want too short curtains. When calculating the length, consider that the curtain should hang a bit above the window. For a luxurious look, the curtain should end just above the floor, and we really mean just above.

4. Hang them high!

A common mistake many people make when hanging their curtains is that they hang them too low. When the curtains hang too low, the window feels smaller. A rule of thumb that interior designers can adhere to is that the curtains should hang at least 20 centimeters above the window frame. If you want a hotel feeling or cheat yourself to a higher ceiling height, a tip is to hang them directly from the ceiling by using a curtain rail.

5. Hang the curtains wide

You not only want to hang your curtains high, but also wide. Let’s repeat this: We do not want our curtains to create the illusion that the window is smaller than it is, rather the opposite. The curtains should not cover a substantial portion of the window. Therefore, a good tip is to hang them further out to the sides, next to the window. Then you create the feeling of a larger window and you do not block any sunlight.

6. Select the correct hanging option

Most of our curtains offer several different hanging options. Consider how you want your curtain to fall. If you want to cover your curtain rod and have less light entering the ceiling, then you should choose a curtain with a duct (2). If you prefer larger folds, then choose a curtain with wide loops (1) or ties (3). Many of our curtains have smart hanging combinations - you can find them on the product's pictures and information on the product page or if you shop in a store, see the curtain packaging for guidance.
